Of the newly launched products that are considered to be associated with strong potential success, GSK’s Boniva (ibandronate) indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis is forecast to accrue $1,309m by the end of the forecast period in 2011.
Although Merck held the leading position among competing companies in the WH market in 2005, its marketed franchise comprises of a lone product, Fosamax, with an indication in
osteoporosis Fosamax and its reformulated counter part Fosamax PLUS D which accrued combined sales of $2,845m in 2005.
