Why First Words ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada,’ Much To Delight Of Parents?

A baby’s first words are often “mama” and “dada,” much to the delight of parents. Now scientists think they know why.
Beyond the obvious – Mommy and Daddy are around a lot and babies are drawn to them – languages in many cultures have apparently made the task easy by creating words for mothers and fathers that feature patterns of repeating sounds, a new study suggests.
To arrive at this finding, brain scans were made of 22 newborns (age 2 days to 3 days) while they listened to recordings of made-up words. They heard words that end in repeating syllables, such as “mubaba” and “penana,” as well as words without them, such as “mubage” and “penaku.”

The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.
Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho’s team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho’s coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.
But Vidro says he didn’t quit and the team refuses to disband. Players and parents held a protest at the league’s field on Saturday urging the league to let Jericho pitch. Read more

Everyone who drives needs auto insurance and they need the right kind of auto insurance, which is the part that can be somewhat tricky when shopping for it. Many insurance companies offer a tool on their websites that allow an individual to fill out basic information about themselves and their vehicle so that they can get a quote. The quote is not always 100% accurate, but it is accurate enough to help an individual make the best decision about which auto insurance is the best for them. But how does this simple number make such a difference? If it isn’t always accurate, that means there?s a possibility the insurance isn’t the best, right?
Effectiveness of the quote
Yes, it is true that the insurance quote is not 100% accurate. However, it is usually within 20% of the actual amount. If one company gives you the lowest quote of all of them that you have received, it is most likely true that the company providing that quote is going to be the most affordable. Even if it is wrong, the difference will more or less stay the same within a few percentage points. That’s what makes the quote such a wonderful tool.

Regis Homes of Northern California is holding a closeout sale of the last few homes at its successful Park Lane community in Fremont. Located in the Irvington District of Fremont, Park Lane has only nine homes remaining that range in price from the mid- $400,000 to high $500,000s. The two, three, and four-bedroom homes offer creative floor plans that maximize square footage, volume ceilings with double height windows, and attached two car private garages and premium finishes.
New homebuyers are particularly won over by the Providences Garden Home concept, a hybrid of single-family and town-home design. Only attached at the garage, these homes live like a detached home on four sides, while maintaining a town home price point by maximizing the lot. The privacy and quiet afforded by a single-family home is priced from $518,000, far less than a detached home would be in a traditional site plan design. Read more

Ensure your eyes remain healthy and beautiful, you may need to look more closely at the value of an annual exam.
Regular eye exams are not just about obtaining optimal vision through the right eyeglass or contact prescription but can also help detect early warning signs of disease that can affect your eye health and general health.
